Description

Join Melissa O'Rear, Program Manager of Education and Paula Hergert, Policy and Prevention Specialist at El Paso County Public Health for an interactive introduction to the new “Addressing Trauma through the Arts” toolkit—featuring 30 arts-based strategies designed to foster regulation, relationship, and resiliency for children and youth. In this session, we’ll explore how brain development is impacted by toxic stress and discover practical, science-backed arts approaches that support healing and growth. Developed by The Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region (COPPR) in partnership with El Paso County Public Health and local arts educators, this toolkit is now available for use throughout our community. As behavioral health needs rise, these strategies offer accessible ways for families, organizations, and community members to strengthen support systems. Through hands-on participation, you’ll experience the benefits firsthand and leave empowered to bring these tools to your own circles—knowing their positive impact and proven effectiveness.

The event is held at the new Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region office: 287 Fountain Blvd, Suite 100. (South downtown Colorado Springs, off Weber Street.) Street parking is free.
